The Garden Bridge- The Future of Green London

A fabulous actress and green activist in one person, Joanna Lumley together with architect Thomas Heatherwick, have presented an idea to create a green bridge for pedestrians, a spectacular new monument on the River Thames.

The idea came up as a solution for improving pedestrian links across the London´s river

An inspirational Joanna Lumley described the bridge as “a place with no noise or traffic where the only sounds are birdsong and bees buzzing and the wind in the trees, and below the steady rush of water. There will be grasses, trees, wild flowers, and plants, unique to London's natural riverside habitat. I believe it will bring to Londoners and visitors alike peace and beauty and magic." And that is exactly what EVERY PLACE on the world nowadays needs.

If you still doubt it´s a good idea, listen to the words of Joanna Lumley, who
described the process of developing of this amazing idea:

Goldman Environmental Prize

The Goldman Environmental Prize is a prize awarded every year to ENVIRONMENTAL activists, one from each of the world's six geographic regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, Islands and Island Nations, North America, and South and Central AmericaThe Goldman Environmental Prize was established in 1990.

It is a green EQUIVALENT to....

RICHARD and RHODA GOLDMAN( in the middle with the first group of Goldman Prize recipients) established the Goldman Environmental Prize, the first and largest award in the world for grassroots environmentalists.

An Idea Whose Time Has Come..

Richard Goldman’s inspiration for launching an environmental prize emerged one morning over breakfast as he was reading about the NOBEL PRIZE winners. He wondered whether there was anything comparable that recognized ordinary people for their contributions to the environment. Research revealed that there was not. Always eager to tackle uncharted territory, Richard and his wife Rhoda began laying the groundwork in 1989 for the Goldman Environmental Prize.

                                                                                                                Till Today...

Surfing In Trash

Surf champion Dede Suryana surfs through a slick of trash in Indonesia.

This pohoto was captured by surf photographer Zak Noyle.

As he told to ABS News he just wanted to take a spot near Bali where there were
"no people only jungle and wild animals around."

                                                                                    In the water, there were
"tree trunks the size of cars, lots of food wrappers and bottles as well,                                                                we even saw soccer balls floating amongst the debris..."

:) :) !!!!Plastic Bottle Flash Mob successfully done!!!!! :) :)

Action Plastic Bottle Flash Mob took place on 18th of May, 2013 in shopping centre Eurovea in the capital city of Slovakia, Bratislava! :)

·     Inspiration for this action → video seen in Youtube:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNXG8AxqJuU

·  Aim of the action:  remind people about some basic rules of environmentally friendly behaviour and awaken in them a sense of importance

·     Volunteers were needed! → creation of Facebook event:

Instructions for volunteers given by Zuzka and Marilya :)

                                                                                                          Volunteers in action! :)

Together:  20 volenteers and another cca 30 people joinded while eating

·      Number of video cameras: 4 ( Evka, Agy, Terezka a Anka )

                                                                                    Filming in action

·      Process:

We did that action twice, for the first time we waited for about 5 minutes while somebody picked up the bottle and placed it into the trash bin, within those five minutes it happened that people didn´t see the bottle, or ignored it or kicked into it, but then one woman picked it up. But she was in rush so she didn´t have time to make an interview with us, therefore we decided to do it one more time. Immediately after placing bottle near the trash bin, another woman, Diana Turňová, picked the bottle and placed it into the trash bin. And now we were well-prepared, ovations were great, we gave her gift (our self-made soap from Hungary with LogLo sticker in a beautiful gift bag) and made an interview, took a photo and gained an approval to publish the video with her as a main actress.

Diana Turňová- main actress of our upcoming video and environmentally aware person- with her boyfriend :)

·     Outcome:

We decided to make a video but in another way as we used that youtube video as inspiration. We realized that we didn´t have to wait a lot for a person who would pick up the bottle, we waited just a little and in the second time it was first person after placing bottle into the ground who replaced bottle into the trash bin therefore we will make video in the positive way. We would like to mention actions and events which are held in Slovakia or in Bratislava by voluntary people or organisations; we would like to mention some decisions taken by parliament which motivated citizens of the Slovak republic to be more environmentally aware.

                                                          !!! VIDEO OF THE ACTION!!!!

Story of one Slovak Homeless Person

One day, Martin Karšay posted one inspirational story, which happened in Slovakia not long time ago. I hope that after reading a whole text, everybody will find at least a small motivation to do big things even without any material means. OUH YES!!! :)

"I have to share an experience that I had in one morning, on 26, April 2013. I stayed in shock and totally impressed. I went to my work and while putting things into my car, I noticed one homeless person near the trash bins in front of my house- of course nothing extraordinary and special. But he was doing something strange and it drawn my attention. When I realized what he was doing, I was standing there for about 10 minutes, watching him with an opened mouth and I did not understand it. The homeless was picking out all cans and tins from trash bins, dividing them on aluminium cans, tins and jars, pressing them by his feet, throwing them into different plastic bags and putting on a wheelchair. That wouldn´t be still too strange, but, in addition to this work and another sorting of paper and cardboard, he was doing something else. The man was picking all plastic bags from each trash bin for the municipal waste, pressing each bottle which he found and he put all plastic bottles into specialized trash bins for plastics. Even when he found some plastic lids on the ground, near trash bins, he collected them and threw them to that yellow trash bin. It was enough for me, so I walked over to him and I asked him whether he does it regularly. He answered: "Yes, every morning, in various streets." He took them as his rayon. I asked him why he does it. I was left in shock by his response- he told me that he wanted to make this world better and therefore he tried to contribute to it with his whole aspiration. And, of course, he will get for paper and cans some changes in scrap yard to survive. I was left in awe, I didn´t expect such an answer. This consciously homeless, now for me person with a big letter P, does something that should be matter of course for each of us and please, put your hand on the heart, who really separates at least most basic plastic and paper trash in the correct trash bins for separate collection? I admit that even I don´t separate very often... I was paralysed, I wasn´t able to react, to do anything. I just nodded appreciatively. I pulled out of my pocket the only cash I had, 10-euros banknote and I gave it to him saying that what he does is amazing. Tears sprang to his eyes and he started to thank me. Since being in the street, he has never experienced something like that before. I just mastered to get in my car, to wave him and to go to work. However, I have a great feeling thanks to this experience and it even made my Friday´s morning better.”
